About the NDIS in Canberra & ACT

The Australian Capital Territory (ACT) has a population of 459,048 persons (as at Sept 2022), and has been growing at a rate of just over 1% per annum over the last few years. Canberra, also known as The Bush Capital, is the capital of the ACT and of Australia. It is Australia’s largest inland city and the eighth largest Australian city overall.

As the seat of the Government of Australia, Canberra is home to many important institutions of the federal government, national monuments and museums. This includes Parliament House, Government House, the High Court, plus many other many social and cultural institutions of national significance.

The city is located at the northern end of the Australian Capital Territory at the northern tip of the Australian Alps, the country’s highest mountain range. It is a well planned and managed city, initially designed with Lake Burley Griffin at its centre.

As of 31 December 2022 there were 9,793 people in the ACT benefiting from the NDIS.
